  • This lake is on the Alpine Lakes Loop trail. It’s pretty but not too exciting. Water was a bit low when we were there. The entire alpine lakes hike is wonderful but the lakes I felt were anticlimactic  more »
  • This lake is beautiful nestled in a grove beneath Wheeler Peak. Kids loved exploring around the lake and watching this little guy come up and beg for food. (See pic)  more »
  • Its beutiful
  • A wonderful alpine lake located at the base of Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park. This lake is more shallow than the neighboring Teresa Lake (thus lacking in some of the beautiful teal water) but features Wheeler Peak as a wonderful backdrop. The hike to get to Stella Lake is listed as moderate but quite doable as the terrain is easily traveled but not paved and about 450ft of elevation must be climbed. Be aware, however, this hike begins in the neighborhood of 10,000ft. The air is thinner so be prepared to take your time and breaks. One can continue to complete a loop to nearby Teresa Lake and/or the Bristlecone Grove to make a fun afternoon.
