Winding its way along a 4.2 km (2.6 mi) round-trip route, Grotto Falls Parking offers you the chance to walk behind a waterfall--the only opportunity to do so in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The path through old-growth forest makes the hike relatively easy, as it's a straightforward climb aside from some protruding stones and roots. You'll find another waterfall on your way to the trail's namesake. Once you reach the 7.6 m (25 ft) tall Grotto Falls, continue following the trail to find yourself behind a curtain of cascading water. Be sure to wear proper footwear and watch your step, as the surrounding rocks can be extremely slippery due to the constant moisture. • This is a sure must do. The views were astonishing! The trail was wide enough that you can enjoy it with friends or your family and not feel packed. There were lots of families on the trail but still....  more

  • Great falls for hiking with kids. It's a wonderful hiking experience with beautiful views. Enjoyed the waterfalls.
  • Just so Taurus no in order to get to these falls you have to drive up a mountain pretty much all the way up it would be recommended to have an all-wheel drive vehicle although you can make it with a 15 passenger van. Once you finally get to the parking area the hike will be about a hour or one point five miles until you reach the falls. When we parked before the hike we seen three baby cubs and when we were finished with the hike and walk back down to her vehicles we seen another one really remarkable. Great experience if you are afraid of heights I wouldn't recommend it. I would bring a water bottle and that's it it is a long hike and there is slight incline but not like to drive up to it. Enjoy we loved it barajas family Gatlinburg Tennessee vacation
