Lots of great author readings. The tea lattes are delicious, and neighboring Jerusalem Market will deliver food as well. Scuppernong is the perfect place to browse books or just sit with a nice cuppa to read or work on your own manuscripts. Unlike big chain bookstores, everyone I've talked with really knows the books in the store and just love books and writers. With all the readings and community events, Scuppernong feels like its part of the community and not just a shop.
Cool little bookstore. Obviously due to size they can't have the sheer selection of books that a 100k square foot Big Box bookstore has, however it seems that their titles are curated well. It's surprising that every book in the store is interesting. Doesn't matter what subject you're browsing, the books for sale all seem like interesting reading. That says a lot. The other thing that's notable is the cafe' inside. It's just not a complete "experience" without a cafe', and certainly they've got it. The back room sells used books, and it looks to be set up to serve as a venue for a book reading/ book signing as well. Great little shop!
