#3 of 8 in Things to do in Guerneville
For nearly 100 years, Johnson’s Beach has been a Guerneville summer tradition whose beauty, amenities, and hospitality make it a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. With its spacious stretch of pebble beach and jagged blue skyline of majestic redwoods, it is the ideal spot for lounging and playing along the cool current of the Russian River.

Johnson’s fun, family-friendly beach has something for everyone. The roped-off kiddie pool allows toddlers and beginning swimmers to enjoy the river safely, and the summer dam provides deeper waters for more adventurous swimmers.

Perfect for family vacations or group getaways, Johnson’s offers charming vacation rental accommodations in the main lodge, rustic cabins dating back to the 1920s, camping, and RV parking.

We also rent boats for extra river fun and exploration, plus umbrellas and beach chairs so you can recline in shaded comfort.

Our snack bar serves affordable traditional summer favorites like burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream. And you can top off your lunch with a frosty cold beer from our Boathouse while kicking back in a beach chair and listening to oldies streaming from the speakers.

Whether planning a day of water play or a weeklong retreat, Johnson’s Beach is the ideal setting for river goers to settle in, relax and attain their summer bliss.

  • Convenient spot to chill in Guerneville area. Shops and restaurants are nearby. When we went here last time, the water current was strong so couldn’t float. Good place to Kayak or go down tubing after June in the summer.
  • There's a family end and a naked end. People usually figure out where the line is, although it's not posted. Views of the Golden Gate Bridge are phenomenal from this beach. People can be a bit territorial, and sometimes there's some cruising behavior, but generally it's low key.
