Discovery Station, is a hands-on, family-friendly museum in downtown Hagerstown, Maryland, United States that opened to the public in 2005. The museum's focus is to create an environment that stimulates curiosity for discovery, exploration, and further investigation through exhibits and programs that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) principles. The museum is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC), the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), and the NASA Museum Alliance.
The museum is located in a historic bank building across from the Washington County Courthouse. The original bank housed the Federal Depository during the Civil War. Visitors can enter the main vault and examine its mammoth leaded glass door and mechanisms. With its white marble exterior and soaring palladium windows, the building is one of the most architecturally significant in downtown Hagerstown.
Discovery Station is visited by thousands of visitors each year and is especially popular with children.
LEGO® Robotics Education Exhibit
The exhibit contains three sections. The first section focuses on the construction and programming of LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3s. The second section features two LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Arena Challenges, where visitors can compete against one another. Finally, the third section focuses on the real world application of robotics.

  • My 2-year-old grandson had a blast here I his grandmother was keeping him over the weekend and it was a rainy weekend so I decided to take him to Discovery station and I could not get that kid to leave a little guy was actually falling asleep on the airplane he was sitting in. Finally he allowed me to scoop him up while he was asleep and take him out of there if my grandson would not have fallen asleep I have no idea how I would have gotten him out of Discovery station. I moved here to Hagerstown a year ago and I'm sorry It had taking me so long to discover this place I've always driven by it and never stopped in and I'm so glad I did for my hunter because now it's a once a month thing that him and I have to do together when he's here at my house. This place is fun for all ages even up till the age of 10 it's very Hands-On and active place and it's all learning while having fun how does learning get better than that.
  • Similar to the children's museum in Winchester, VA; its an inexpensive visit the kids will enjoy even if an adult will realize it's nothing truly that special... Not greatly maintained but clean enough to feel comfortable. The best part is the creativity room in which there are plenty of arts and crafts, paint, supplies, etc for the children's (and yes adults as well) imaginations to run wild. Overall cool place for the kids. I would recommend, I'm sure they will enjoy for 3-4 hours.
