The San Mateo County Harbor District, runs Pillar Point Harbor in Princeton and Oyster Point Marina/Park in South San Francisco, was created by a County election in 1933. It was originally formed to build a harbor at Redwood City, but the Great Depression intervened.Put Pillar Point Harbor into our Half Moon Bay road trip planning tool to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Half Moon Bay.
Coastsiders then pushed to get a breakwater built at Pillar Point for a harbor of refuge for the fishing fleet. The Army Corps of Engineers began work on this breakwater after World War II and finally completed it in 1961. The Johnson Pier, docks and 369 berths, and the inner breakwater were built during the 1970's and 1980's. Pillar Point remains a major commercial and sport fishing harbor, and is host to many public events including the annual Mavericks surfing competition, and the Christmas boat decorating contest.

It's so elegant and beautiful. The atmosphere is nice and very clean. I highly recommend going this place especially when the weather is sunny. Kayak rental is also available at the site. Also, you can buy fresh fish and sea urchins here.
Very pricey for RV parking and no hook ups. Enjoyed the harbor and peir activities. Brought a Wild King Salmon fresh off the boat. Nothing better
