  • Harpers Ferry is an excellent national park and well worth the trip. I am taking a star off for poor signage. It's just difficult to know what's what, where to park, and how to get to the downtown vis...  more »
  • If you live close (less than 3 hr drive) or just LOVE Civil War history, I would recommend this park. I cannot imagine feeling like it was worth the trip if you traveled far or did not love Civil War ...  more »

  • We stumbled upon Harpers Ferry on the way to Skyline drive. And were only glad to.. It's the place where the two rivers, Potomac and Shenandoah meet.. Shenandoah loses its identify and Potomac amalgamates into a larger form and flows with more vigor towards DC. What I realized only later was that the place was actually famous as the confluence of the rivers. It was actually famous as a town where arms and ammunition was manufactured a long time ago. It's a nice idlyic town.. Cobbled streets, fancy shops and cafes. Harpers Ferry is a nice pit stop for a couple of hours.. Walk the small rail bridge over the Potomac.. Drink a coffee.. Sit next to the rivers.. Take in the sun.. And the wind.. And head up to your next destination..
  • Awesome place to wander around on a Spring day. The whole place is really well maintained. We we here late March on a weekday and the parking was not to bad. I don't know how it would be with lots more people here.
