  • The museum strives to stay relevant and meet today's concerns. That is obvious as they have taken pains to portray slavery and it's effect on those subjugated by it. There is toning down of...

  • What a beautiful and heart wrenching place to learn about our Civil War. The staffnis incredibly helpful and kind. The exhibits are remarkable, and the presentation is thoughtfully laid out. The first room we entered brought tears to my eyes, seeing the history pf our country laid out so honestly. I highly recommend a visit to this museum. Worth every minute, and every dollar.
  • We have been to quite a few civil war museums, but this one by far was the best. It has a very neutral feel, just presenting the facts leading up to and during the war. There is recognition of a variety of individuals that were in the war, videos along the way, and of course lots of pieces used at the time. Be sure to check out the medal of honor room. Only one woman has ever received this honor and it was taken away from her and given back after her death
