5 Rivers Adventures, Inc. is a whitewater rafting company established in 1997 and is located on the beautiful Big Pigeon River in Hartford, TN. Our company boasts one of the finest outdoor attractions in the eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina areas.



We are located approximately 30 minutes from Gatlinburg, TN and 45 minutes from Asheville, NC. We offer full service whitewater rafting trips for all ages and skill levels. No matter what the size of your group, we can accommodate your needs wants and provide a day of unforgettable memories for all. Our staff is second to none. All of our guides are professionally trained, both as river guides and as medical care providers. Our guides average over 12 years of whitewater experience to provide not only a fun and exciting trip, but more importantly a safe one as well!

Our outpost is conveniently located in Hartford, TN directly off interstate 40. We are less than ¼ of a mile from the exit ramp and directly located on the river, meaning that customers do not have to be on buses a major part of the day like many whitewater rivers.

5 Rivers Adventures, Inc. offers rafting trips on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Memorial Day thru Labor Day with a guaranteed water release from Walters Power Plant. All other days require a phone request at 1-888-204-8779.

The Pigeon River offers 2 possible rafting excursions:



Upper Pigeon Trip: we offer an exciting class III/IV whitewater adventure called the “upper trip” that is appropriate for ages 8 and up or anyone weighing over 70 lbs. This trip is considered an “intermediate” run that will leave you wet, full of adrenaline, and wanting more. New for the 2015 season, we are offering a higher adventure ride by taking smaller rafts to make the rapids somewhat larger and more challenging.

Times: 11:00 – 1:30 – 3:30 *Later trip times available upon phone request*



Lower Pigeon Trip: Second, we offer a very mild “float” trip consisting primarily of class I water with a few class II rapids and one class III rapid. Children as young as 3 years old can experience this scenic ride. Also, this trip is perfect for those parents/grandparents who desire a less challenging experience.

Both of our opportunities are professionally guided and are 2 hour experiences.



What will you need?

No matter what time of the year you plan on going rafting with us, you will need a few basic things to be prepared. First, all people going rafting must have proper footwear! This needs to be shoes with a heal strap, such as tennis shoes, water shoes, or river sandals. NO FLIP FLOPS or sandals without a heal strap are permitted!! Water shoes can be rented or purchased at the outpost if desired. Next, depending on weather, you will need clothes that you don’t mind to get wet and can keep you warm and comfortable. We do offer spray jackets for those cooler days or for those people who get cold easily. Those can be rented at the outpost as well. Last, you will want to bring a towel and change of clothes for afterwards. Our outpost offers private changing rooms and hot showers.
