Crooked Eye Brewery began as a 5 gallon hobby system in Jeff Mulherin's kitchen where he messed around like many of us. One thing he realized from the beginning was how much he loved the brewing process. One thing others noticed was how good the beer was. He continued to learn, research, and brew as others continued to drink and love his beers. The kitchen started to get a little over run with equipment so he decided to move into his parent’s garage and bumped up to a 30 gallon pilot system. To visit Crooked Eye Brewery and other attractions in Hatboro, use our Hatboro day trip planning website.
His father, Paul Mulherin, and his uncle, Paul Hogen, tasted the potential of Jeff’s brews and knew that if only he had space to expand and produce on a larger scale they could quench the thirsty with tasty beers. Being as though they live in the Southampton area, they began looking locally for space for Jeff to expand and potentially become a working brewery. In early 2013, they found the perfect spot and moved into their Hatboro location that had once been a cross fit gym and stereo installation before that.
For about a year they brewed and gave away beers at Hatboro events while waiting for their brewer’s license to get filed and approved. In February of 2014 they were finally licensed to sell growlers and kegs to the public. This is when the Hatboro residence really began to take notice of the family owned brewery right in their little town. In December of 2014, a game changer occurred for the micro brewing industry. The laws in PA changed to where microbreweries could sell pints in their brewpub space as long as the brewery can be closed off to the public while brewing is taking place. It was time for an overhaul on how the business was run and the look of their location.
From August of 2014 to November of 2015, they acquired and broke through to the other half of their building to double their floor space, built a 10 foot by 20 foot walk in cooler, tore down their small walk in cooler, built a 20 foot bar for the masses to rest their weary bones, and about tripled their brewing capacity. Since then, thousands have passed through their doorway to drink, toast, and celebrate. In November of 2015 they upgraded their 2 barrel system to a 7 barrel and started producing around 220 gallons per batch to keep all 11 beers on tap with some special ones popping in from time to time.
The members of Crooked Eye Brewery have
different work experiences but all bring something to the table. They work well as a team and are very passionate about brewing and making a good product. They make beers they all enjoy to drink and feel that is what sets them apart. They are one big family imbibing the grains and hops of their labor.

I've seen Crooked Eye change a lot from the early days until now, and it has all been good. Their Hazy Eye Double IPA is probably one of the finest IPAs I've had, and that's going up against some...

Great beers. Bring some food and games and you have found a fun spot to hang out with friends. Parking is not obvious on property but just go out on the street and you’re good.

This is a cool spot with a variety of events including some really great bands. Nice staff and usually a laid back, approachable atmosphere/crowd. I would give a higher rating except... it's a brewery, so beer is an important aspect. Although there are a few good beers (the hazy eye double ipa is one), most of beers are okay at best, but that's just my taste, go check it out for yourself.
Craft beer at its best! 5-star beer, down home atmosphere and solid people! No pretentions, just a place to enjoy spectacular beer, meet good people and listen to some live music. Clean and cozy, enough room to socialize with your fellow patrons or have a couple of beers with someone special, chat, and chill. A nice feature is the option to buy a 64 ounce Growler or 32 ounce sealed can (oil can, crawler, etc). If you like fresh, delicious, and a wide variety of beer, then this is a Must!
