What a beautiful trail! There's plenty of free parking and it's open until 10 pm. Lake Chatuge straddles North Carolina and Georgia. You can catch glimpses of it from the Jackrabbit Mountain...

We should have picked a warmer day. The wind was brutal as we walked the first part of the trail along the lake. As we entered the wooded area there was less wind and a more enjoyable walk. There was always the thought that we had to walk along the lake again to get back to the car. Very few people on the trail.

A relatively easy 3.5 mile paved walk starting at the dam which is perfectly flat, followed by some easy hills. The view of Lake Chatuge is expansive and picture-worthy. The bathroom building at the camping ground seems to be closed during off season.
