Let me be your own private designated driver. Enjoy the beauty of the wine country from the comfort of your own vehicle, but I do much more, you could say I'm a concierge. I love for clients to get involved in their research about where they would like to go. We all have busy schedules. What I like to do is have an online dialog with clients and do the work for you. I'm very familiar with Sonoma and Napa Counties. I can make reservations at tasting rooms and or restaurants. I can also suggest restaurants, giving web-sites so you can decide for yourself. If you just want a picnic I can do that too, or when you're at a winery I can pick up your lunch and have it ready for the next winery. Anything you need I would love to be of help! I carry liability insurance and have a California drivers license.Arrange to visit Kim Smith Wine Driver and other attractions in Healdsburg using our Healdsburg trip itinerary website.
I'm adding something different then most drivers on wine tours. We all know wine vineyards started in Europe. How would you like to have a California wine tour with a touch of Europe. My friends Galliano and Sandra are from Italy. They are gracious enough to open up their home to serve a typical Italian lunch being cooked by the both of them, using everything from their garden, but that's not all...Galliano will give you a tour through his organic vineyards followed by visiting his wine cellar drinking his wines. You will go home with a bottle of his wine, and I promise you won't forget this experience. They are wonderful people. You will feel like you just visited Italy but in California's Wine Country. The cost would be $50 per person.
A little about me.
I've lived in Sonoma County for most of my life with the exception of a period of time living in France and Germany many years ago. During harvest months in Dry Creek Valley, I opened my home to international interns. The interns included Australians and New Zealanders, who left in the morning to work for different wineries.
As a result, I'm familiar with the work-a-day world of making wine, which I would love to share with you.
My husband was a vice president of a winery for almost 25 years. We both are retired. He works part-time in Healdsburg at a wine shop.
I would love to drive you to places most people don't know about unless they are in the wine business. I know all the great restaurants, spas, mud baths, and mineral springs. I know "gems" to visit all the way to Mendocino. I'll make sure that I'll find exactly where you want to go.
We have three wine appellations converging in the town of Healdsburg: Alexander Valley, known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek for Zinfandel, and Russian River Valley for Pinot and Chardonnay. One of my favorites places is the Dry Creek General Store owned by Gina Gallo. There, you can have a wonderful deli sandwich, and sit outside facing the west with its sweeping views. The fall is incredible time to visit wine country with all of the vineyard leaves changing their colors, but the winter vineyards can be equally fascinating.
But this is Healdsburg where I live and choose to live. I'm also very knowledgeable with the Napa County as well. Since working as a wine driver I've actually found some incredible wineries with the most delicious wines with spectacular views. There are great delis. There is Oakville Market which was founded in 1881. Also Dean and Delucca has a fabulous array of most anything that your heart desires. If you want to go towards the coast there is Mary Edwards in Sebastopol. She was the first woman frontier in making wine and graduating from Davis. Not far from Mary Edwards there is Iron Horse Champagne. Their tasting room sets outside, covered of course, with amazing sweeping views of Green Valley. Their Champagne is world class. It's been served many times in the White House. They offer much more then Champagne, their pinots, and chardonnays are beautiful as well. These are just a few of examples of wine country pleasures.
For a fantastic unique adventure on your trip to wine country in the comfort of your own vehicle and one you will always remember and you can relax and enjoy the wineries. My rates are $30 dollars and hour.
