Tour and taste in the largest winery in the state during your visit to Stone Hill Winery. Learn about the wine, as well as the history of the winery itself. Enjoy the rustic setting of the German heritage town and building, as well as the views of the surrounding hills as you wander about. Live music is often available in the afternoons. Be sure to take note of seasonal events if you don't (or do) want to be in a crowd. Children are welcome, too--but their tastes will be grape juice, not wine. PutStone Hill Winery into our Hermann travel planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.
Stone Hill Winery reviews
We enjoyed our stop here and their wines are excellent. The wine tasting was nicely done with a lot of information on the winery history, grapes, comparable wines, etc. They have a protocol in... more »
The winery experience was amazing. I've been to wineries before. Stone Hill is my favorite by far. I'm not a drinker, but my fiance Asriel and I did the wine tasting. It was a great experience it..... more »
My husband and I had dinner on Tuesday August 13. While my husbands dinner was an average three star, I ordered the chicken spaetzle with blue cheese and found it to be inedible because it was loaded with garlic. He tasted it and found the same garlic flavor. I cannot overstate how bad this dish was. Neither of us are experts on German food, so I researched and found several spaetzle recipes on-line and none of them used garlic. This dish was not prepared properly and I should not have had to pay for it (but did not ask for a freebie). I only give it two stars because my German Trio special was edible. I have had much better German food in other US cities. The Norton red wine was good and the service was good too. But the food was not.
Stone Hill was recommended by our Bed and Breakfast host as the most authentic German style restaurant in Hermann, it delivered. Our meal was better than any German food we’ve had in the US and as good as any we had while living in Germany. I had the “Trio”, Schnitzel, Wurst and Sauerbraten, it was all excellent. My wife had Spaetzle with Grilled Chicken, she enjoyed her meal as well. Our server was Sam and she provided impeccable service. We liked the uncomplicated sweet white wine we had with the meal. All in all an enjoyable evening.
