Hilo Farmers Market, Hilo

Support local growers at Hilo Farmers Market, which is open daily. The market's 200 vendors sell everything from produce to handicrafts, but the market is also a hub of culture with live music and artists selling their wares. On certain days, locals are invited to rent a booth at a discount and sell their used books, second-hand clothing, and antiques. The market is its own community, and it provides a good way for visitors to get to know the locals. Visit the attraction's website for a list of featured vendors and to obtain online coupons for discounted goods. • We came during a Friday morning and a Saturday morning. Just a few fruit stands on Friday but much more on Saturday. I did expect more variety of tropical fruits since this was Hawaii but was somewhat...  more »
  • Check the day of the week. It was open but not much of a selection. Enjoyed our visit though and got a couple of nice necklaces.  more »

  • Who doesn't love the idea of picking your fruits/ veggies from a local market from a cheerful community. This was quite the experience to see so many colourful and delicious foods available. I also had to check it out again on Saturday as I heard this is when the real fun begins. I just wish there was fresh meats available mostly fish, personally would have made this experience a bit more rewarding.
  • Lots of fun and great food you see. I highly recommend it. I did feel like they jacked up the prices because we were tourist. That sucked. Especially because i was watching what everyone else paid. I didn't mind because we could afford it but not nice.
  • LOVE this place and this is only place on all Hawaiian Island that do have decent size and flavor bananas, very tasty papaya’s, as well as many other tropical fruits and full range of vegetables from local producers. The place has it own “aura” and makes me smile by watching positive local people and taking pictures with Japanese obachas… One of the loveliest places for me on the Big Island!!!
  • Who doesnt like farmers market? Came a bit late so stalls were already closing. Majority left were fruit stands and some jewelry. wish there was more of a variety. Neat that there is a snow cone shop next to it. Love the location, walking distance to local shops and restaurants.
  • One of the best places on the Big Island to find locally sourced fruit and vegetables. I love that you can get ripe fruit to use that day and it ripened on the plant and not while sitting on a container! The vendors are friendly but you need to shop around because the price and quality are different at each vendor. There is a separate area that has flowers, plants, and crafts. Saturday morning is the best time to go if you want a good selection.
