Support local growers at Hilo Farmers Market, which is open daily. The market's 200 vendors sell everything from produce to handicrafts, but the market is also a hub of culture with live music and artists selling their wares. On certain days, locals are invited to rent a booth at a discount and sell their used books, second-hand clothing, and antiques. The market is its own community, and it provides a good way for visitors to get to know the locals. Visit the attraction's website for a list of featured vendors and to obtain online coupons for discounted goods. • Stopped by over the weekend to stock up on produce and some treats for the weekend. So many items to choose from that I will need to make a point to drop in often. Most notable was the woman selling tamales. She carefully dresses each one with her tasty sauces and toppings before sending you off to enjoy them.
  • With the advent of the incredible discovery that is Hawaiian soil, full of life forming nutrients that somehow make fruit not only grow bigger, but tastier as well, we wind up with literally the best produce on the planet. How fortunate Hawaiian farmers are also the kindest, most hardworking people you could ever meet. Top quality product that is literally above any other in the world.
