  The "Mokuppapa Discovery Center" was founded in 1983, with the purpose of educating the public about remote regions of the Hawaiian Islands, known as "Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument". In this center, visitors are offered a large saltwater aquarium, interactive exhibits and presentations allusive to such events in a small theater. The entrance is free. Know if you have time.

  Eigentlich wollten wir nur zur verlegten Außenstelle des Volcano Nationalpark und hätten nicht so ein schönes Museum erwartet. Man lernt viel über Hawaii.  more »

  Actually we just wanted to go to the misplaced outpost of volcano national park and wouldn't have expected such a beautiful museum. You learn a lot about Hawaii.

  It's small, but lovely. Beautiful paintings of sea life and displays to help kids understand more about the island the ocean, and how to care for both. Upstairs is warm, but worth it. There resides the RAMA exhibit paintws by Rama the elephant who lived in the Oregon zoo. They are magical.

  Go here. Entrance is "free" but donate to this great cause and education museum. I learned a lot about the Hawaiian Islands, and the maps showing all the islands were great. Guides at the museum are very knowledgeable. There is an aquarium that any child will love and its air conditioned! A must go and it's a quick visit.
