Nelis' Dutch Village, Holland

#1 of 26 in Theme Parks in Michigan
Theme Park · Water / Amusement Park
Stop and smell the Gouda cheese at Nelis' Dutch Village, which brings to life the olden days of the Netherlands. Built according to typical Dutch architecture with a network of canals, the village provides insight into what life was like in an earlier time in the lowlands country. Try some clogs on for size (you can watch them being made at the wooden shoe factory) or take part in a traditional Dutch klompen dancing lesson. You'll have the opportunity to watch a demonstration on the making of Delft blue pottery, and learn about cheesemaking with the chance to sample some delicious Dutch cheeses. You can dress up in Dutch costumes in the Kolean museum and enjoy a ride on the windmill-themed Ferris wheel. • Good place if you have kids to visit because it is very affordable. The demonstrations were nothing, very disappointed. Like I said I would imagine families would enjoy this.  more »

  • Great service, remarkable diversity, and an overall beautiful, interesting, fun, and enlightening visit. Lovely gift shop with a wide variety of beautiful Dutch Delft, wooden shoes, figurines, Dutch snacks, and other cultural gifts. Delicious cheese, charming amusement section and petting zoo, and glorious handcrafted fudge. Definitely worth the admission price and a wonderful place to revisit with future generations. Has a distinct grandmotherly feel-- so homey and warmly welcoming. A must-visit!
  • $13 for adults and we had a blast! Spent the afternoon and had plenty of time to see/do all that was offered. Enjoyed the Dutch dancing. Incredible gift shop. Great samples of cheeses and chocolates in the demos. Some of the presentations were very weak, given by high school summer employees, who just don't have the skills to convey info or make it lively or vibrant. However, it was worth the money and time and we will return with kids sometime.
