  • Found ourselves really enjoying Medoc, it was so quiet. Perhaps children back in school, in any case unlike our previous dozen CG it was Bliss! Sites were spacious and buffered, only 12 with power...

  • This is another very excellent North Carolina State Park. The campsites are spacious and comfortably separated. We are in an Airstream and the side to side level was very good but the front to back level required quite a bit of lift at the hitch to level. The sites do not have water, electric or dump hook-ups, but that is OK. We prefer to boondock. The bathroom is clean, heated with good shower area. There is a playground and picnic area with a very large open meadow. There are a lot of very pretty day trails and a stream not too far from the campground. There is not much very near to the campground as far as gas, shopping or dining. I think that is a feature, but plan ahead.
  • Medoc Mountain is a hidden gem of a state park. The staff at the nature center, Allen, was so, so helpful with planning our hikes that would accommodate a small child. We also got to meet Charlie the Snake! We took the Campground and Bluff trails - a nice, hilly hike. That is a rare find in this part of North Carolina. While there were a few staircases and bridges that could use some touch up (I mean, hey, they're pieces of high trafficked wood in the middle of a wet forest, some damage is only to be expected), the park upkeep was remarkable. The campground bathrooms were impeccably clean, shout out to a good camp host! The playground that they are doing construction on looks like it will be awesome. There were bathrooms, water stations and trash cans located conveniently throughout the park. Not to mention that the NC State Parks Passport stickers were available separately, how clever of an idea is that? I cannot sing Medoc Mountain's praises enough.
