Alaska is known for its natural phenomena, and Homer Spit is among the most remarkable. No one is certain how this Kachemak Bay landmark came into existence. A strong earthquake in 1964 significantly reduced its size and killed most of its lush vegetation. But that didn't stop the spot from turning into a popular tourist destination lined with shops and restaurants. Choose from a range of activities such as boat trips, camping, fishing, kayaking, and walks down the long beach. You can access the spit by a car, but parking lots might be crowded. Make Homer Spit a part of your Homer vacation plans using our Homer day trip planning website.
Homer Spit reviews
We really only had one evening to try to see the Spit area. Everyone was friendly and courteous as we visited. There was more than what we were able to see in that one afternoon. more »
Simply beautiful/ Saw two bald eagles. It was cold and windy but it didn't stop us from enjoying the beach. more »
Always a great place to visit. Cool shops and good food. The kids did the Creatures of the Dock Tour and loved it.
