Coral Castle is an oolite limestone structure created by the Latvian-American eccentric Edward Leedskalnin (1887–1951). It is located in unincorporated territory of Miami-Dade County, Florida, between the cities of Homestead and Leisure City. The structure comprises numerous large stones, each weighing several tons, sculpted into a variety of shapes, including slab walls, tables, chairs, a crescent moon, a water fountain and a sundial. It is currently a privately operated tourist attraction. Coral Castle is noted for legends surrounding its creation that claim it was built single-handedly by Leedskalnin using reverse magnetism or supernatural abilities to move and carve the stones.

  • A beautiful place with a romantic story. The site can only be visited with a guide. Before the tour starts you will see a video to give more background information about Coral Castle. Once you are inside the 'castle' you can walk around freely. Meanwhile, the guide tells the story behind the various objects. The 'castle' is a structure consisting of a large wall within which all kinds of carved coral stone objects can be found. The whole thing is in the open air.
  • This is a fascinating place and worth visiting. The tour is brief but informative; you'll learn more if you ask the guide a lot of questions. Kids will probably enjoy seeing all the lizards everywhere. Be sure to check out the books in their shop. I purchased several and I'm looking forward to reading more about this site and the man who built it.
