Dirtbag Ales Brewery & Taproom
Before we get started with our tale, let’s introduce the original Dirtbag cast responsible for rejecting the status quo, violating all known social norms, and admiring the un-admired in order to create North Carolina’s very first contract microbrew. First and foremost, Tito: a brewmaster who would stop at nothing, learning to brew, solder, weld, plumb, and wire in his garage in order to assemble ever-growing make-shift brewing monstrosities needed to craft beer demanded in quantities quickly exceeding what any garage could possibly provide. Next up is Gerald. Think of Gerald as the unassuming accountant-type who can not only casually interpret legalese, but somehow makes you feel really good about yourself while explaining to you that your business plan couldn’t run a lemonade stand in July and that the math isn’t even right on your expenditure spreadsheet. Finally, Eric. Eric is the whisky snob, now-turned-craft-beer snob who had always disliked the alternating mouthful of wheat/ mouthful of hops experiences from many microbrews, demanded that Tito and Gerald take all his money to make as much beer as possible after tasting the very first iteration of The Kolsch.See Dirtbag Ales Brewery & Taproom and all Hope Mills has to offer by arranging your trip with our Hope Mills tour planner.
Now, onto our story…
The tale of Dirtbag Ales begins in a small hospital in Baghdad, Iraq as a friendship between two medics, Tito and Gerald, is forged into a true brotherhood. One long year later, battle-buddies in the combat zone become neighbors in North Carolina after returning home. Not long after, Gerald would marry his lovely fiancé and what would perhaps come to be known as the most serendipitous wedding gift in the history of man was given: The Home Brew Kit. Never letting a good opportunity go to waste and while Gerald was still in a fresh stupor of wedded-bliss, Tito proposed a grand bargain of free beer for life if Gerald gave him the home brew kit.
Eventually their paths would lead them to the final member of Dirtbag Ales Eric, who also shared a passion for great beer and was not afraid to venture out on a dream.
We all soon came to the realization that we were Dirtbags; not that we are bad people, but that real innovators and pioneers don’t follow a rule book, and doing what’s right often requires not conforming to conventional wisdom.
The passion that was ignited in Tito, whose love of beer began year’s prior, lead to many nights of experimentation and research, the outcome of which is a line of beers that have been skillfully crafted and infused with true love for brewing.

I always love going to Dirtbag. I'll have to make visits more often because the atmosphere is always relaxed and fun. The beer selection caters to every palate, and the food trucks are awesome! Not to mention Napkins' deep fried brussel sprouts are the BEST! Very pet friendly. We brought our pups for socialization and everyone was super nice with well-mannered dogs.
