Hope Valley Outdoors offers cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals, tours and lessons in and around Hope Valley and Tahoe in the beautiful Sierra Nevada. We have over 60 miles of marked trails surrounded by 7 peaks over 10,000 feet. Hope Valley Outdoors received the prestigious 2011 and 2012 Best of Tahoe Cross Country Skiing award. Our facilities are completely off the grid and we actively promote sustainability and “leave no trace” recreational opportunities. Some tips to help you plan your trip to Hope Valley Outdoors:
-We accept cash only.
-There is very little cell phone reception in Hope Valley. Verizon works the best, but there is no data.
-We maintain a port-a-john restroom for our customers. Your donations help us to continue to offer this service. Most donations are $10. We appreciate any amount you are able to offer. A public restroom is nearby but not always accessible in winter.
-Your pets are welcome, but you are responsible for cleaning up after them and keeping them under control.
-There is no trash service in the backcountry - pack it in, pack it out!
-We do not sell food or drinks.
-We do not rent sleds or pulks.
-When you rent equipment from us, your boots and personal belongings need to be stowed in your vehicle.
-No hiking on trails without proper equipment such as skis or snowshoes.
-When snowshoeing, avoid ski tracks.
-We sell trail maps and are happy to recommend trails appropriate to your skill level, time considerations, and current weather/snow conditions.
-Remember that you are responsible for your own safety in the backcountry. Know before you go and be prepared!

We stopped here to try out cross country skiing with our 3 and 5 year olds. The woman there was so nice and knowledgable. She helped our my daughters so they started to get the hang of the skiing.
