The Mid-America Science Museum is a science museum located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It has more than 100 hands-on exhibits — both traveling and permanent exhibits. Many permanent exhibits were built in the early 1980s, such as a "ball machine" that hits billiard balls all around an elaborate track.

Several of Rowland Emett's "things" (kinetic sculptures) have been at the museum since it opened, including The Featherstone-Kite Openwork Basketweave Mark Two Gentleman’s Flying Machine, as well as several that appear in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as inventions of that film's character Caractacus Potts.

One of the museum's permanent exhibits is the most powerful conical Tesla coil, which can produce 1.5 million volts of electricity.

  • Excellent and must-see stop! I remember visiting when I was little and it has been completely redone in recent years. My daughter loved exploring! Her favorite was the cave. She also enjoyed the sky walk and the trails. We will absolutely be back for more fun soon.
  • A really awesome place to go with the family! My kids abd I absolutely loved it and could spend all day here! Lots to do and lots to learn. Tons of interactive displays and things to play with. I'd definitely go back and plan on staying a lot longer! We had so much fun that I forgot to take any photos 🤷
