The Mid-America Science Museum is a science museum located in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It has more than 100 hands-on exhibits — both traveling and permanent exhibits. Many permanent exhibits were built in the early 1980s and are still on display. The museum has recently been renovated and expanded.

Several of Rowland Emett's "things" (kinetic sculptures) have been at the museum since it opened, including The Featherstone-Kite Openwork Basketweave Mark Two Gentleman’s Flying Machine, as well as several that appear in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as inventions of that film's character Caractacus Potts.

One of the museum's permanent exhibits is the most powerful conical Tesla coil, which can produce 1.5 million volts of electricity.

  • My daughter,33 and myself, 64, had the most fun on our mom daughter trip her at the science museum. Two science geeks spent 4 hours here! Great hands-on learning.

  • We made a special trip for my nephews birthday and had a blast! We have not been to Mid America since we were in elementary school on a school field trip and it has changed so much in the last 30 years that even the adults had fun. There was plenty to see and it was spaced out enough where multiple people could look at the displays and play with the features at each one. There was plenty of hand sanitizer stations mounted throughout the facility since everything was able to be touched and played with. The dinosaur exhibit was neat. The kids could color a picture of different dinosaurs, name it, and then place it on a special scanner that would then pop it up onto a TV where it walked around the terrain as if in a cartoon. There was also quite a bit outside as far as walking trails, rope bridges, and a massive rope net that was 100 ft off the ground that you could lay on and look at the nature trails below. Definitely a fun place for adults and children. Can't wait to go back!
  • Come over bring the kids & get ready for some fun while you learn a few things. Check out the Tesla show & also the dome theater, and many more things to enjoy. All of it is a hands on experience. You won't be disappointed. Only$12 per adult.
