  • This is the perfect place to relax. The mansion and grounds both hold their own beauty. If you want a place for yourself to enjoy or family and friends this is it. Great views of the river, gorgeous Italian Gardens, and lush green grass that never seems to end. Pack some food and head there for the day to escape the busy life we all live.
  • Where the Vanderbilt couple (yes, only two people for the mansion) spent Spring and Fall. A vivid example of how new money was spent in Gilded Age, gorgeous ground, architecture and furnishing. Well or poorly spent? The vintage Steinway grand piano was made in NYC, shipped to France for hand painting, and transported back to Hyde Park. The most beautiful I've seen. Our park ranger is great, interesting and vibrant, bringing the period to life.
