In 1833 in Kentucky’s Boone County, a region of proud limestone hills that gradually fell to their knees at the banks of the Ohio River, a man named William Snyder made a decision that would impact the region 182 years later: He decided to buy a flour mill. And within three years he had begun operating a distillery in conjunction with the mill. Soon, his whiskey business was one of the largest in the nation, and far exceeded his profits in flour.Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Independence trip simple and quick.
And while we might consider Snyder an extraordinary man, he was typical of those with a pioneering spirit back in the day. They saw opportunity, and took risks. For them, the biggest risk was in doing nothing.
It’s in a similar pioneering spirit that Boone County Distilling Company is now making authentic bourbon whiskey in the northern hills of Kentucky. Their brand is a living tribute to those that came before, men like Snyder and others, including Col William Appleton, J.C. Jenkins and James Gaff. Julius Freiberg and Levi Workum. Their stories infuse the Boone County brand with truth and determination. They are all part of the story.

This is a real distillery, they distill their own bourbon here and not buying it from somewhere else. The tour was interesting, the tasting was nice. The process was well explained. I really liked the barrel" room for the tasting and also the barrel storage as well. They have several different products and occasionally special stuff such as bourbon aged in honey barrels, but you should go and take the the tour to find out what they have. Also they sell glassware that looks very nice and some other items. The tour is inexpensive and includes the tasting, so well worth it. They even have a place to hold events for any occasion .

This distillery is on the B-Line and Craft Bourbon Trail. The tour was great. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable and shared some very interesting stories not only of history but of past guests. This distillery has a lot of interesting history. There is a huge window in the gift shop so you can see right into the production area. The manager was also very bubbly and you received a free shot glass.
