In the first presidential library to be created, Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum pays tribute to the 33rd president of the United States and showcases where he conducted his political affairs. With two floors of exhibits, you'll learn about his life through a catalog of letters, photographs, and audio-visual documents. Draw on Truman's memoirs and oral interviews, which mark him not just as the President but also as a person. Take a peek at his 1947 diary, or sort through his his speeches which include details on the use of the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, Japan. You can stand inside a room designed as a replica of the Oval Office as it appeared in 1950 and get the feeling of how Truman, with the help of his advisors, faced real-life historical decisions. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Independence holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Harry S. Beautiful place. Squeaky clean. Staff was super friendly. The souvenir store was great. Be aware - masks required, no food/drink. Military free! But price is about $15 and donations are accepted. Pass is for all day, so you can leave for lunch (we went to subway across the street) and come back. Lots to see!

I have visited several Presidential Library's & Museum's over the years and I would have to say, this one was the best so far! The design is easy to follow. The displays are very modern and interesting. I definitely learned more about Harry S. Truman and truly enjoyed the visit. As an added bonus, the staff were extremely accommodating the day of my visit. I would recommend checking in advance to see if a reservation is needed BEFORE you visit. Overall, I spent about 2 hours exploring and I took my time.
