Must see · Wildlife Area · Nature / Park
The largest wild bird hospital and sanctuary in the United States, Seaside Seabird Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates injured wild seabirds in hopes of returning them to nature. Spend time up close with the permanently injured birds who reside at the sanctuary full time and take pictures of some of the 600 wild birds that come through. Make sure to bring sunscreen and water, as the sanctuary is mostly outdoors. Be aware that like any place heavily populated by birds, there can be a strong smell. • A must see to thank the people who rescue these magnificent and innocent creatures. It's FREE but please leave a donation. Rescue work is nonstop and cleaning and caring for the birds is 24/7 and backbreaking. The birds are well cared for in a semi natural setting. The visit is both educational and entertaining. Take your children so they will learn the value, the absolute necessity to revere and cherish wildlife.
  • Nice little place to see owls and egrets along with all kinds of seabirds and vultures. Some fly freely around you. It's neat. Quiet except for some light bird chatter of course. No cost of admission but they do take donations. Go early and avoid the crowd. Opens at 8. There's a cool little shade garden in the back that leads to the Beach and you can go up the tower. Bring the kids!
