Organizer of the "Art in the Park" outdoor art exhibition in the Miners Park, June 28 to July 26, 2014. Over $2,800 awarded to competing artists.
Following the iron ore mining boom at the turn of 20th century, the mines forming the nucleus of the city of Ironwood were abandoned. The mining sites returned to nature and were locally known as the “caves”; long settled depressions or subsidence in the ground.
The Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park volunteers have created a park where the mines once operated.
Celebrating the miners and mining history that created this region. Trails for walking, running, hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

The park is restored from the mining experience. Nice trails. Other displays. Historical objects, too.

Great place to walk. Bring bug spray. Especially interesting when the art projects are on display. There are several alternate paths of various lengths.
