The Dog and Oyster Vineyard, Irvington

3.8
#65 of 203 in Wineries in Virginia
Winery / Vineyard · Food & Drink
The vineyard consists of more than 6 acres of Vinifera and French American Hybrid vines. There are four varieties of grapes. The two whites are Vidal Blanc and Chardonel. The two reds are Merlot and Chambourcin. The quirky name of the vineyard was created to honor the rescue dogs that rescue the grapes from deer and other animals; and, to honor the oyster, one of the Chesapeake Bay region’s greatest assets.

We now offer oysters & other specialties on Fri, Sat & Sun only, 11AM - 4PM.

***Dogs are welcome at our vineyard.***

  • We visited them while they were very busy but loved tasting wines and eating some great seafood! It is, of course, dog friendly and our pup enjoyed being served water and a treat, too!  more »

  • Could this place be any more adorable?! Came with a friend and sat outside to enjoy a glass of wine and freshly shucked oysters. We didn't do the wine tasting so I can only speak for The Pearl, which we each enjoyed a glass of. It was delightful. Just right for a summer afternoon.
  • Lovely vineyard. My mom and I visited on a beautiful day. We showed up just before a large party was doing a tasting. They let us join in. Told us the story and history of the vineyard and wine. Both wonderful people doing the presentation and wine pouring. Prices were an average cost for a good wine. Would definitely visit again. Nothing against the winery itself, but people brings their kids and listening to screaming kids is an odd choice in parenting, so be prepared that may be an experience you could encounter. Otherwise lovely place and the story of saving the dogs from the kill shelter certainly warms the heart.
