  • Great respite from busy I - 95. Only one of three gardens was actually open due to damage from hurricane Irma.  more »
  • A small museum, but a great collection and well worth a visit. The gardens were damaged by a hurricane in 2017, so they are still being restored.  more »

  • A great place to enjoy the day or evening. It's beautiful to walk around and do something a little different. As well as the catering company that does the Cafe inside the museum, is one of the best if not the best in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. Definitely a great place to enjoy the museum, or to grab a bite to eat especially when it's nice outside, it's a breath of fresh air from the workday. Or enjoy both. What a beautiful museum including room for the children! The gardens hosted a lovely wedding reception and the entire facility was just perfect!
  • We had four hours to kill before a flight home, so we decided to visit the Cummer Museum since it was fairly close to the airport, and we knew we could grab a bite to eat. I read online that it was "Tapas Tuesday" with live music, so I made a reservation for the patio. We were highly impressed with everything from the convenience of storing our luggage to the friendliness of the staff to the variety of exhibits to the intimacy of the spaces and of course, the gardens (even though they are currently under repair after the wrath of Irma). Since we enjoyed leisurely reading the placards, we had to walk a bit snappier through the last exhibit, the special exhibit on Augusta Savage, in order to make our 5 o'clock reservation. Tapas Tuesday was a lovely way to end our visit. The live jazz was so enjoyable, and the patio was filled with to capacity, so I recommend a reservation. I ordered the tomato soup and kale salad combination, and while the kale salad was good and what I expected, the flavor of the tomato soup blew my mind. My daughter had the grown up grilled cheese, and although she usually eats like a bird, she devoured the entire sandwich and the side of fruit. To punctuate our experience, we shared the divine and sinful, but oh so worth it, chocolate lava cake. It was definitely worth the calories. As we were leaving the museum, the same woman who greeted us wished us a safe flight and hoped we had enjoyed our visit and asked that we visit again. We certainly will! If you're visiting the Jacksonville area, the Cummer Museum is a must.
