Dinosaur National Monument visitor center was once home to prehistoric creatures, as well as civilizations dating back 800 to 1,200 years. The park's main draw is Quarry Exhibit Hall, where you'll find 1,500 dinosaur fossils and intact dinosaur bones exposed, including a nearly complete skull. You can also learn more about the Fremont people who lived here through the petroglyphs they left behind on rock walls. Drive one of the park's many scenic routes for views of the mountains and possible sightings of wildlife like deer, bighorn sheep, and prairie dogs. You can also explore the park by foot on a hiking trail, or try white-water rafting on the Green or Yampa rivers for a closer look at the park's remote canyons. Ranger-led programs offer the chance to explore the park a little deeper; ask at the visitor center for more information on current programs. This place is pretty neat, and not crowded. There is quite a lot to do in the Vernal area. The shuttle was fun and we enjoyed the fossil trail hike down. My kids liked it but said the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving point and the Natural History Museum are better. They also said we have been on better hikes. So I was a little bummed my kids weren’t more excited, but I thought seeing the actual dig site was so neat, and knowing we were touching real dinosaur bones. Seeing the neat geological features that preserved the dinosaur fossils was also neat. The ranger on duty was crazy Knowledgeable and patient with my kids crazy questions.

Awesome dinosaur fossils display, interesting rock formations and a dessert ambient to walk around. Would like to come back in the summer and camp. The split mountain area looked amazing. It's a huge place and we only went to a small portion of it. Definitely worth the visit and to explore more over multiple days.
