The Gold King Mine Ghost Town is one of the most unique places in the country. Thousands of visitors come here from all over the world to see one of the most interesting sites depicting the history of one of the driving forces in the building of this great country. Hundreds of cars, trucks and pieces of equipment used to mine and build America can be seen here.

You will see very rare automobiles, trucks, and machinery found in this country. Operating saw mills, power productiion and other equipment are here for the inspection. Don Robertson, owner and builder has been operating the site for nearly 30 years.

Don Robertson came to Haynes Az. nearly 30 years ago to erect his dream of this ghost town on the site of one of Americas most interesting and productive mining areas. The story of his journey on DVD can be purchased in the gift shop at the mine. It is the story of building the American dream and of the history of a very important part of this great country.

  • We had fun and enjoyed the place. I would say that be prepared to use your imagination and if you enjoy self guided tours and trying to figure out details of what things are then you will enjoy coming here. It’s a very eclectic place with A LOT of old cars, engines, and random bits and pieces to look at. My only suggestion would be to increase the amount of signs etc to let us know the history of the buildings that are there.
  • I was pretty disappointed with this ghost town...I thought there would be more historical narrative, but there was none whatsoever. It felt like a huge junk yard. Yes there were some interesting looking old vehicles and equipment. We were surprised to see some farm animals too like chickens, a couple of donkeys, and a couple of goats. Overall, it may be a little entertaining for little kids, but there is not much to see.
