The Loew's Jersey Theatre is a movie palace type theater and live entertainment venue located in Jersey City, New Jersey. Opened in 1929, it was one of the five Loew's Wonder Theatres, a series of flagship Loew's movie palaces in the New York City area. It was designed by the architectural firm of Rapp and Rapp in a Baroque/Rococo style. Tri-plexed in 1974, and then closed in 1986, it was dark for years. It was purchased by the city in 1993 and been operated by a volunteer organisation, the Friends of the Loews, since that time. The theater was designated as a New Jersey Registered Historic Site in 2009. In a move opposed by Friends of the Loews, the city in June 2014, agreed to let AEG Live operate the venue.Start your trip to Jersey City by creating a personalized itinerary on Inspirock.

I went here on September 20th!! I have never been to a movie festival and I found an interesting one that was here!! The lobby was very swanky and reminded me of a rich persons apartment!! They also..... more »
Absolutely stunning interior that's still undergoing remodeling and refurbishing; a real gem to have in the city and worthwhile to visit if you're in the area. Check their website for screenings... more »
The organ is amazing and there's so few places you can experience a classic silent movie the way it was meant to be. They also play classic films like Blazing Saddles, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Goodfellas, etc, and it's awesome to see them on the big screen. The tickets are a good deal in my opinion, at around $8 for a single & $14 for a double feature. This classic movie palace is in the process of being renovated, led by volunteers. There's a lot of work left to be done, so you'll have to look past a few rough edges. But it's beautiful as it is and you should come out to see a show and buy some extra popcorn so they can keep fixing it up.
Me and my family have been coming here for years now to see movies. It’s the best movie theater around. Reasonably priced admission and snacks, great films, dedicated staff, huge screen, great organ and just the most wonderful, historic atmosphere to enjoy a night at the movies. We even volunteer over the summer when we can. Only wish they’d show more movies, but maybe then it wouldn’t seem so special. Make the effort to visit this remarkable venue!
