The Angel Oak Tree is a necessary free attraction to see while on vacation in Charleston. It was so beautiful and pictures honestly cannot do it justice. We went on a Monday which you would think would mean not a lot of people would be there, but there definitely was! The beauty and size of this tree are unmatched. My fiance proposed this Monday at the tree and I couldn't think of a better place to say yes at! If you are wanting anything from the gift shop however make sure to bring a lot of cash. There's signs saying baskets and anything with a green sticker we're cash or check only. And the baskets while gorgeous, were ridiculous. The tiniest basket was $90. I get it's handcrafted but it was ridiculous to see the price of it. They had "authentic" Angel Tree branch key chains for $20! We bought some cookies and fancy pralines and I looked up the company afterward to buy some more. They are up charging 100%. A $4.99 pack through the company was $10 in their store. Just crazy to use such a beautiful place to rip off people who want souvenirs.

This may have been the most powerful spiritual experiences I've ever felt. Something about this tree just called to me. It drew me in beyond being in awe of its beauty. It felt like I had been there before a million times. It felt so familiar and I can't explain why. It drew me overcoming me with the feeling to put my hands on it. As I stood below it looking up through its many branches into the small amount of light above it. A wave of calm and peace washed over me and I couldn't help but to start crying never knowing why. It was a great way to end our South Carolina adventure and I can't wait to go back.
