Hands On! Discovery Center at Gray Fossil Site, Johnson City

Not from around here, so we never got to experience the mystical and amazing "downtown location" that so many other reviewers say was so much better than the current museum.... BUT I have been to dozens of children's museums/zoos/aquariums across the country in the last two years. I would rank this as a top five experience, easily. I brought my 6yo, 2yo and 1yo. There was a great variety of types of exhibits and hands on activities that each of my kids (yes, even my 1yo) were able to participate in and enjoy. There were even more activities that were beyond my 6yo, so in my opinion it would be great for kids across a variety of ages. We spent about two hours here, and could have spent another hour, easily. My kids want to come back. Very worth the money, very fine museum. P.S. don't miss the second building, I do feel that many people with negative reviews may not have seen/been to the second building with dozens of more activities.

My kid is too young (a year and a half) to appreciate the activities set up but had fun running around and trying to figure things out. The adults had a good time playing too. I have always loved the fossil site though and the discovery garden is gorgeous. Some of the outdoor kids exhibits are in need of some maintenance but we are excited to come back regularly as our child grows.
