From the cruise ship dock to the top of the mountain , Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway carries passengers 1,164 m (3,819 ft) in six minutes. Be prepared for an extremely steep rise--you'll go from about sea level to a height of 550 m (1,800 ft) above sea level. Enjoy views of the city and Gastineau Channel as you pass through the rain forest on the way up. Once at the top, visit the nature center, eat at the restaurant, or watch a film about indigenous Tlingit history and culture. If you plan to the explore hiking trails, wear hiking boots or shoes with strong grips.
