The Basement: A Live Escape Room Experience, Kansas City

My wife and I currently have 32 escape rooms under our belts, and this is by far the most elaborate and engrossing room we've ever undertaken. The production of the room is extremely well done. Visitors should know that this escape room is unique, it has themes and props that are far more adult than typical rooms, and the atmosphere is definitely more disturbing than any I've seen. That said, it was an absolute thrill and we loved it. Progression through the room was challenging, but I found some steps and clues to be a bit too obscure for even experienced players to make steady progress. It's one thing for a puzzle to be difficult, and another for the clues to be so obscure that it's more luck when you do extract the answer. This may be just our experience however, and we play as a team of two, which certainly makes all rooms harder. We will definitely be back to play the same room again, and then the sequel room. This place is 100% worth a visit for those looking for a very unique escape room experience. First timers who are feeling any trepidation may enjoy one of KC's tamer escape rooms more.

This was an excellent twist on an escape room! Having a live actor in there made all the difference. Listen to them! The "victim" was the hint giver, which was a nice twist. Clues were cleverly hidden and there was a definite gross-out effect in the way the clues were hidden that made the room wonderfully thematic!
