Welcome to a gathering of 200 automobiles that is diverse and all encompassing, and illustrates the evolution and art of the automobile and its role in our lives.

The catalyst for our museum was the donation of 130 automobiles from Bernie and Janice Taulborg in 2011. The Taulborg Collection represented more than four decades of acquiring and restoring vintage vehicles of wide ranging styles. The museum has since added several vehicles through generous donations from other owners, and it is these vehicles that create our permanent collection. In addition to our permanent collection, we typically display approximately 60 vehicles that are on loan to the museum from their generous owners. This group is regularly changing and evolving and will ensure a fresh display each time you visit the museum.

Our collections and facility are cared for and maintained primarily by our wonderful team of volunteers, and we are supported partially by donations from giving friends and benefactors, and also through our Friends of the Museum program. We have created an educational program that will utilize our exhibits as tangible links to historical topics and educational opportunities. Classic Car Collection is a 501c3 non-profit venue and we graciously accept your volunteer help, tax deductible financial or other donation, vehicle loan and suggestions to help us thrive and grow.

The goal of our museum is to present an entertaining and artful perspective of the major role that the automobile has played in our history, culture, industry and innovation, and its relationship to us all. You will find displayed along with our vehicles authentic vignettes, artwork and items that will bring you to a moment in your past or an opportunity to share a piece of your own history with those close to you. We embrace and use technology and interactive displays to help illustrate and educate visitors of the wide sweeping affects that the automobile continues to have on our lives.

We have recreated a 1950’s gas station, with its vintage tools and more modern devices that show the progression of technical sophistication and how the technician has kept us on the road. You will also visit our Drive-In Theater display that incorporates the original vintage ticket booth from our local Kearney Drive-In. Other technological displays include various video screens showing historical footage and also recent events, our terrific ‘Car Hoods Project’ that uses large recreated car hoods as video screens for historical and entertaining footage.

But our core reason for being is the exhibit of our automobiles. The Collection includes several very rare and historic vehicles, including a one of its kind 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith Limo, two Locomobiles and three Pierce Arrows. Also on display are two rare Lincolns from the Full Classic era, a 1930 Convertible by LeBaron which is one of 80 produced, and a 1930 Dual Cowl Phaeton which is one of only 20 produced. These are accompanied by similarly rare automobiles from Packard and Cadillac, Buick and LaSalle.

We are equally as excited to share many rare marques, some that most of us have never seen before, like Moon, Gardner, Maxwell, Jewett, Gray and Metz. Among these you will find wonderful examples from Studebaker, Hudson, Mercury and Chrysler. The Collection also showcases exquisite over the top 1950’s style, from the huge tailfins on a 1959 Cadillac to the stylish overload of an exquisite 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser and 1958 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and of course, the timeless Thunderbird.

Our Muscle Cars include several rare Mopar cars, a very rare supercharged Shelby Mustang GT 350, and early GTO. Sports cars are also on display from Ferarri, Porsche, DeLorean, Lancia, Bricklin, MG and Triumph. Our 1930 MG Boattail Roadster, with its wood framed, fabric covered body is a wonderful historic look at the origins of the sports car.

Please accept our invitation to take part in our mission by visiting the Classic Car Collection as we celebrate the automobile as art, industry, freedom and history. Visit our Resource Center and browse through our printed materials, view our automotive art on display and share your car stories with us!

  • So many beautiful, fun cars to look at. Whether you are a car enthusiast or not, this collection is something to see. The showroom is immaculately maintained, and the staff is very friendly.

  • Wonderful stop off I-80! The collection is over 200 cars (some rotating through). Spend over an hour just walking through. My wife and I stopped here since we were driving by on I-80, would recommend.
  • Awesome! Went in expecting nothing more than muscle car show autos. Was I wrong! I was blown away at the collection of "off brand" autos that went away in the early 1900's. And every one restored to perfection. With perfect paint jobs and no oil leaks on the floor, each auto displays a small history of its origin, original cost new, and maker. Well displayed with nostalgic a service station and a drive in theater. My only regret was waiting 10 years to experience it. I will come back with friends and family.
