The Wild Animal Sanctuary, Keenesburg

4.2
#4 of 7 in Zoos & Aquariums in Colorado
Specializing in the rescue and care of large predators that have been mistreated, The Wild Animal Sanctuary provides a safe place for these majestic creatures, as well as a spot where people can visit them. The impressive center boats 290 hectares (720 acres) of lush grassland, providing ample room for its hundreds of resident animals to roam. View lions, bears, tigers, wolves, and more from the sanctuary's "Mile into the Wild" observation walkway, which stretches above their habitats to cause minimum disruption and discomfort to these territorial animals. As the walkway is elevated, you may want to bring a jacket for protection from the wind. • An amazing place to go and see beautiful animals. Close enough to hear, see and enjoy the animals. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. They are well informed and are happy to be here to make your time more fun and enjoyable. Definitely worth coming back and bringing family and friends. Also, yummy ice cream!
  • Best experience one can ever get. Witnessed all the animals mentioned and can’t feel thankful enough. Binoculars is must to get the best of best experience. Can closely hear the sounds of animals and enjoyed the visit. The only thing is staff shouldn’t pressure us to give donations, they should make us understand why they need it and let it leave to customers to make a decision. Other than that, visit is totally worth.
