Creek Street, Ketchikan

4.2
#1 of 6 in Historic Sites in Ketchikan
Historic Walking Area · Tourist Spot
Built on wooden pilings over a foaming stream, Creek Street features a historic bridge with an infamous past. The street's colorful history includes fishing, prostitution, and bootlegging. For the first half of the 20th century, this quiet strip served as the town's red light district, lined with brothels instead of the quaint little shops and restaurants you see today. Stroll down the boardwalk that leads to the ship dock; if it's the right time of year, you can see salmon struggling upstream and jumping over the manmade ladder. Visit one of the old brothel museums and see the trail that married men used when fleeing from raids. Make Creek Street a part of your Ketchikan vacation plans using our Ketchikan road trip website.
