Create an itinerary including Creek Street
Built on wooden pilings over a foaming stream, Creek Street features a historic bridge with an infamous past. The street's colorful history includes fishing, prostitution, and bootlegging. For the first half of the 20th century, this quiet strip served as the town's red light district, lined with brothels instead of the quaint little shops and restaurants you see today. Stroll down the boardwalk that leads to the ship dock; if it's the right time of year, you can see salmon struggling upstream and jumping over the manmade ladder. Visit one of the old brothel museums and see the trail that married men used when fleeing from raids. Make Creek Street a part of your Ketchikan vacation plans using our Ketchikan road trip website.

  • It's a short walk from the pier. An interesting boardwalk with shops. The creek it teaming with salmon. We got to see harbor seals chasing and catching fish in the creek. People are very friendly.

  • Just a really quaint village that reeks of Alaska experience. Eagles just hanging out in the trees above the village that you might miss if you don't look up!

  • Such a beautiful, unique street. It was so much fun to walk through. All of the store owners were so friendly and helpful even if you didn't purchase anything. The salmon were spawning in the river and you could see their bright eggs. There was a seal trying to catch some salmon. It was fun to watch. Such a lovely walk.
  • Beautiful place and an even better history. The different stores were super cute to walk into and buy souvenirs. There was a salmon shop to ship fresh salmon to your home. The creek was peaceful and lots of koi fish swimming around. Definitely a great place to hang out.
