Ketchikan Duck Tour

Our story begins on Martha’s Vineyard, MA June 3, 2000...at the wedding of founders John & Jillian Malouf from Ktn Ak...who became inspired by the Boston Duck Tour while on their way to getting married.

They brought the idea back to Ketchikan the following year and founded Alaska Amphibious Tours. The company purchased its first HYDRA TERRA vehicle manufactured exclusively for tourism from CAMI (Cool Amphibious Manufacturers International) in Rochester, NY and drove it to Alaska. The “Duck” was named Kody J, after their son, and ran its first tour in Ketchikan June 3, 2001, as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

The company added to its fleet in 2003 with the “Alex J”; and again in 2005 with the “Maximum Fisher”, both named after their children, and “Miss Jillian” aka “ mama duck” joined her ducklings in 2008.

The Ktn Duck tour is the only amphibious tour in the state of AK and carries approximately 40,000 passengers per year, catering to cruise ships May through September.

  • Lots of fun and informative! Rode through Ketchikan neighborhoods and points of interest, then went down the boat ramp and got a nice ride around the area on the water.

  • Captain Keith & Narrator Kessa tour: This is a kid-friendly and senior-friendly tour that just requires an initial step ladder climb inside and sitting for 90mins. The seats are comfortable and you can learn a lot from the area. They stop for photo opportunities and keep the jokes light hearted. There were some good puns and overall it was a positive experience.
  • Keith and Lee were great tour guides. We enjoyed the information about Ketchikan town, fishing, salmon and the boat ride. Beautiful day and tour. Thank you.
