Create an itinerary including Misty Fjords National Monument
Visit Misty Fjords National Monument to see snow-capped mountains behind jagged granite cliff walls that were carved by ancient glaciers. The fjords are part of a coastal rainforest area that is often shrouded in clouds and mist, giving the area its name. In the water, watch for orcas, porpoises, sea lions, seals, and salmon. On land, you might see bears, deer, wolves, wolverines, moose, and mountain goats as well as hummingbirds and migratory sea birds. You can only access the remote fjords by floatplane or cruise ship. For the more adventurous, boat drops for kayaking can be arranged. • Such a beautiful place to visit. You can only visit areas of this beautiful Fjord by either flight plane, helicopter or boat. We did take a tour boat and were so very happy with our experience...

  • Hi, my name's Travel Nurse Gary. I've traveled all over the United States as part of my job. I want to take a moment to talk about how cool this tour is. As you can see from the photos, the Misty Fjords National Monument is so beautiful. The boat is huge and nobody was seasick from our group. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable of the environment. The captain took us off the route to watch a Humpback whale breach 3 times before diving. Warning: it is a rainforest and rains 300+ days a year. So be advised that sunny days like my photos aren't always an option. I live here in Ketchikan so I picked a perfect day to go.I want to give an estimate of 4 hours total round trip. On the way home a snack of Clam Crowder was provided and it was delicious. I also noticed that many people on the tour had adult beverages. The concession stand is available. Free coffee, hot chocolate and tea for guests. I brought my own water. Loved this tour and thank you to everyone at Allen Marine Tours for this tour!
  • Visited on our three month cruise up to North and South poles, spoilt with magical weather and blue skies. President Jimmy Carter proclaimed Misty Fjords as a National Monument in 1978. Misty Fjords National Monument's glacial valleys are 50 to 70 million years old.
