I have visited Nancy and her feathered friends on 2 previous trips, and I plan to visit again during this trip to Key West. I love watching and interacting with all the birds, but especially Pierre! Nancy is truly an amazing and generous person. In addition to all the great education and work Nancy does, it’s critical to provide financial support as well!

This is a beautiful sanctuary, well cared for by Nancy. She takes the time to tell each small group of the plight of these long lived birds. I felt so very honored to be able to pet 1 of her 2 peach macaws. “Make sure he’s scratching his neck, oh, yes, he is. Go ahead & pet his feathers this way. Not hard, but not soft. He’ll walk away if he doesn’t like the petting. Covid hit all the birds hard. I was their only caretaker for over a year. This one’s whole personality changed.” All the birds have at least a bit of a story. They are cunning and love to show off. Even if you don’t think you like large birds, at least stop by & put some cash in the tip bowl. The birds need their food too. And, if you live on Key West, consider helping out. Volunteer daily, get to know the birds & their favorite toys. You’ll be doing a great service to Nancy and also to all the birds. I’d help, but it’s a serious commute from Detroit to Key West daily! LOL!
