Claws 'N' Paws is a private zoo in the heart of Lake Ariel. It's often called "the zoo in the woods" because of it's woodland setting. We are open May until mid-late October.

Throughout the day there are a number of keeper-lead activities, many of which are designed to give the public a closer interaction with our animals. Lory parrot feedings and turtle town are some of our favorites

This page is run entirely by our keepers. All the photos, updates and stories are from the keepers who work with these animals every day. We love our animals very much and know that many of you care about them too and we cant wait to share their lives with you.

Keep in touch over the winter too. Although you may not be able to come and visit them yourself, we promise to keep you updated and post lots of pictures of all your favorites.

If you have any questions we'd be more than happy to answer them and would love to see all the great pictures you've taken too.

If you have a favorite animal that you'd like to see more of, just let us know and we will do our best.

  • This zoo is in the forest, with dirt trails and nice animal enclosures. Scheduled shows and feeding the giraffes were a good experience.

  • What a great place to bring the kids! But I think the six adults enjoyed seeing all the animals even more. Much better than we all expected, and many animals and birds we had never seen in New York...

  • Big Bang for your Buck! We were very pleasantly surprised by the size and sights. Many animals of all different kinds to see here and an extensive layout. Popular with visitors but never felt overcrowded. The day that we went was a little unseasonably cold but all of the animals were out regardless, and active. Small line to feed giraffes but that activity was reasonably priced - $3 per person, and the option to feed parrots as well. Great zoo!
  • If you like animals, this is such a cool place to visit- with or without kids! Loved it! However it needs more benches. I have a back issue and needed to rest every now and then, but the few benches they have, were already packed with people. Especially by the Giraffe and petting zoo! There were times we didn't come across any benches for a good stretch. Other than that, this is an awesome place!
