Take a 4.7 km (2.9 mi) hike, or drive to Prospect Mountain, a 616 m (2,021 ft) peak with a 160 km (100 mi) view of Glens Falls and Lake George. In the 19th century, the mountain hosted a restaurant with a dance podium, which had to be accessed by foot. A railway incline opened in 1895, but failed financially eight years later. You can still see the remains of the old rail system today. At the top, take time to admire the nature and vistas of the Adirondacks. If you hike up, be prepared for steep and rocky terrain; the hike can prove challenging for novice hikers. Be sure to pack plenty of water. • My mom and I drove up the mountain and did a small hike to the summit. Once again teh views and the history were stunning. Still enough color to enjoy.

  • It was cold by my standards but well worth the climb! The buses were not running that day, so we had to climb to the top. A tad bit arduous for us, but nevertheless we made it without medical...

  • Easiest hiking but the views are breathtaking. Went there October 14 2022 and I was lucky enough found the peak fall foliage. Must visit places at Lake George.
  • Probably the cleanest park I've ever been in, very well maintained roads. There are 3 overlooks with nice views on the way to the summit, though the 3rd didn't have much to see because of some overgrown trees. The shuttle to the summit was closed for the time being, but they do allow cars with handicap tags to still drive up to the summit. Otherwise you can walk up 2 different ways: there's a shorter but very steep path, or you can walk up the road the shuttle usually goes on which is much more gradual but takes a little longer. We took that up and went back down the steep one. Views at the top are wonderful, definitely recommend it!
