  • A nice longer hike if you want a challenge but not a sentence... Also a nice way back down the other side. Would recommend taking a drone with you if you have one!  more »
  • Algonquian via Avalanche lake. We walked slow to take it all in took about 6 hours to peak. Some very challenging parts.. not for the faint of heart as there was about 200 feet of sheer rock...  more »
  • Mountain was a Beast of a climb but just an amazing adventure. Very rocky from halfway point to the summit but the views once there are incredible with fantastic 360° views. 5116' sure is incredible!
  • Algonquin Mountain is a popular and relatively short yet steep hike from the ADK Loj. The trail starts out easily but becomes steep with numerous sections compromised of rock slab. Those sections can be slippery or icy. The summit itself is expansive, with 360 degree views. To the east, the view of the slides on Mount Colden are impressive as Mt Marcy towers behind. Highly recommend this summit to see the fall foliage. Do take heed of the weather conditions as they can change quite dramatically.
