Park Ridge Golf Course, Lake Worth

By creating an 18-hole golf course on the closed Lantana Landfill, Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Authority turned a useless piece of property into a popular community asset.

Originally closed in 1987, the Solid Waste Authority and Palm Beach County began construction of this unique facility in 2004.

Topping 85 feet at its highest point it just may be the highest golf experience in the County, and while heaven and earth was not moved to build the course, over 645,000 cubic yards of fill was imported to create contours and cover the specialized irrigation system.

The golf course which was opened to the public in March of 2007 has not only received engineering and environmental awards, it has also been certified by Audubon International as a cooperative sanctuary.

  • Played today at Park Ridge. Pleasantly surprised. The course is now in good hands. Rich and hos team is doing great job. Greens are much better than previously. Some inconsistencies in reading and getting breaks. Hole at green #9 was in ridiculous place, in a slope where your ball rolled 10 feet down the slope where the hole was. Keep up the good work and the course is a success. Lake Worth Course was also a nice surprise. Good greens.
  • This is the only course in S. Florida with hills and the managers are doing a great job keeping the course up with all of the winter play. There is plenty of staff and they are very friendly and courteous. You will not find another course like this in South Florida.
