  • Twenty or so years ago, my mother and I visited the Amish Farm and House in Lancaster, PA. My mother was from Japan and she always was fascinated with American culture that appeared to have a Zen-like character. I happened to be in Lancaster today and found myself on the front porch of this local attraction. I recalled many of the comments and questions made and asked by my mom as we walked the grounds years ago. My mother died three weeks ago. It was nice to be reminded of one of the many good times we shared.
