The Michigan History Center fosters curiosity, enjoyment and inspiration rooted in Michigan's stories. We constantly seek new ways to provide opportunities for experiences that spark curiosity. We are as enthusiastic about the as-yet-untold stories of Michigan as we are about tales of Father Marquette of 19th-century lumberjacks. We are committed to providing opportunities for all people to see themselves as they experience our exhibits, our collections and our programs.
Michigan History Center Reviews
One of the very best state museums in the country. We visited on a Sunday when admission is free and guests are few. Avoid during school trip visits. I recommend two hours. There is a rich history in ... more »
Saw this museum on TV and decided to travel to see it. Believe me it was worth the long drive. Plenty of parking. Floors 2 & 3 are fascinating . Allow plenty of time to look and see all the displays. ... more »
One of my favorite museums ever! I've been to tons of museums and this one is amazing, the selection is hands down awesome and the displays are crazy cool. I learned so much there and hope to go back again! There's so much to see it took a couple hours to see it all! By far the best thing there is the indoor house, I was enthralled with this exhibit and still am! It feels charming and homey with a modern twist to the history of this beautiful state!
The Michigan History Center is hands down one of the best experiences Lansing has to offer. This is a must visit attraction that the entire family will find enjoyable, no matter the age. It takes you on a trip through time and the history of Michigan, but within the context of the ancient history of the North American continent and the birth of the USA, right up to current times. There are a fascinating array of high quality exhibits, both grand and detailed in scope, and many interactive features as well. There is a "wow" moment around every corner. You absolutely do not need to be a Michigan native to enjoy this museum. Go there now. Or you can wait until Sunday, when parking and admission are free. This place is first rate, all the way.
