Tortugas Mountain is a mountain in southern New Mexico, in the village of Tortugas in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. It is also known locally as 'A' Mountain.

There is a letter "A" on the mountain.
It is the site of the Tortugas Mountain Observatory, an astronomical observatory owned and operated by New Mexico State University.
A pilgrimage to the top of the mountain is part of the annual Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is a 4 miles (6.4 km) climb, which some participants do barefoot.

Great Hiking all around the mountain. You can hike up the road that goes to the observatory at the top or go up the many trails leading to the exact same place. Many locals make the trek up the top.... more

Great spot just outside of Las Cruces. A great variety of trails to choose from. It was pretty rocky on the trails we took but not difficult. The view at the top was awesome!

A Serene place to enjoy the quieter elevation after climbing up a steep mountain. View of the organ mountain is charming. The grand top view of the entire Las Cruces city is fantastic, with long straight roads and cars visible as tiny as toys. The freshness of air is singing rare to get elsewhere.
