  • Besides seeing fish there is a short easy hike with nice ponds. This is a short activity to fill part of your day.

  • There's the hatchery. Who doesn't enjoy feeding the fish? There is a visitor's center. Unexpected was the 1-mile nature trail. You can also veer off to the Evergreen Lakes. One could easily spend an hour wandering the trails. They are also the gateway to more serious hiking up to the Colorado Trail via Rock Creek or Highline trails. Kearny Trail nearby is very steep. Rock Creek Trail is a reasonable hike.
  • We always drive up to check on the fish as our dog finds the hatchery magical, but today we discovered the nature trail! The 1.25 mile loop nature trail is a wonder for all. It's easy enough with very gentle elevation changes, great informational plaques, and the views abound! The Evergreen Lakes are kettle ponds leftover from glaciers and about .75 miles in you get a beautiful view of Mt. Massive. What a lovely surprise of a trail at the Fish Hatchery!
